Personal use ≠ unlimited rights
Read the source license. Personal/internal-use grants may prohibit selling software; noncommercial cost datasets may not be used for paid estimating. Hosted apps may require payment even for private use.
CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY · OPEN SOURCE & PERSONAL USE
A practical directory for estimators, quantity surveyors, and contracts professionals. Discover tools for PDF takeoff, BIM quantities, BOQs, cost rates, contract controls, earthworks, AI skills, and MCP servers.
INDEPENDENT DIRECTORY Tools belong to their original authors; this page does not mirror, install, or claim ownership of third-party software. Listings include open source, personal/internal-use grants, noncommercial datasets, and hosted or license-unclear references. Licenses and account requirements are shown on each card.
✓ Traceable quantities. Reviewable assumptions.
Example workflow, not an automated end-to-end service.

USE RESPONSIBLY
Read the source license. Personal/internal-use grants may prohibit selling software; noncommercial cost datasets may not be used for paid estimating. Hosted apps may require payment even for private use.
Check sheet scales, units, overlaps, deductions, IFC classifications and quantities against source drawings. Automated results are not certification.
Rate libraries are not automatically current market quotations. Validate date, locale, labor productivity, tax, freight, waste and scope before pricing a bid.
Contract-control tools do not decide FIDIC entitlement. Engineer instructions, variations, time bars and payment procedures require the actual signed contract and supporting records.
Previously omitted resources are now included as clearly labelled references. AutoConst takeoff skills have personal/internal-use licenses even where their READMEs say MIT. DDC cost data is CC BY-NC 4.0 with attribution. ConstructFlow lists LGPL-3 in files but OPL-1 in its README; verify permission with its author. Hosted MCP services and advertised paid plugins may require an account or purchase. We link to the original source only, and do not mirror restricted code or data.
BUILDING BLOCKS
This directory is a first step. Separate original modules could later cover steel quantity/weight libraries, rate buildup sheets, drawing-to-BOQ workflows, and variation logs—with tested units and auditable assumptions.
